COMPASSION IN ACTION: GAU SEVA AT ISKCON ICHALKARANJI

At ISKCON Ichalkaranji, we believe that the protection of the cow is one of the most vital aspects of a peaceful and sustainable civilization. Following the ancient Vedic traditions and the teachings of our founder, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, we consider the cow as a mother who provides nourishment and sustains life. To honor this sacred bond, we have established our very own Gau Shala, a dedicated sanctuary where cows are cared for with the utmost love, dignity, and devotion. Our Gau Shala is not just a shelter; it is a place of worship where the well-being of the cows is our highest priority.

In our Gau Shala, every cow is treated as a family member. We ensure they receive high-quality organic fodder, clean drinking water, and regular medical check-ups in a stress-free environment. This selfless service, or Gau Seva, is performed daily by our dedicated volunteers who understand that serving the cow is directly pleasing to Lord Krishna, the protector of the cows (Gopala). By maintaining this Gau Shala locally in Ichalkaranji, we aim to set an example of ethical living and highlight the spiritual and environmental importance of cow protection in the modern world.

Why Gau Seva is Important to Us:

Spiritual Connection: In the Vedic scriptures, the cow is dear to Lord Krishna, and serving her brings immense spiritual merit.

Ethical Protection: We provide a lifelong home for cows, ensuring they are never abandoned and live their full lives in peace.

Serve Cows, Serve Dharma

Sustaining the Earth: Our Gau Shala promotes organic living by utilizing traditional methods that enrich the soil and environment.

Community Awareness: We educate the next generation about the virtues of compassion and the importance of our cultural heritage.

We invite you to visit our Gau Shala and experience the serenity of being in the presence of these gentle animals. You can become a part of this noble mission by sponsoring a cow’s daily meals, contributing toward medical care, or supporting the maintenance of the shelter. Your support helps us expand our facilities and ensures that our “Go-Matas” continue to live a life of comfort and care. Join us in this divine service and receive the blessings of Gau Seva.
